Two@2: iSway

Very few sophomore efforts are more hotly anticipated than Kendrick Lamar’s. His new single “i” from his upcoming yet-to-be-titled, yet-to-be-released album was just revealed and samples The Isley Brother’s “That Lady” (but not the vocals, unfortunately!).

The Chainsmokers dropped this remix freebie of “Sway” by Anna of the North. The Chainsmokers love remixing indie artists, but this one is in a deep house style that is a bit different for them. Some people didn’t like this change, but the artists simply responded by saying “we will produce whatever the hell we feel like producing”.

Two@2: Shake Off The Night

Avicii’s latest track “The Nights” was leaked and features more of that Americana country-infused EDM Avicii popularized with “Wake Me Up” and “Hey Brother”. Avicii announced he’s taking a break from touring and promo activities to recuperate after facing several health concerns, so have a listen to kick off your Monday.

Check out this D.A.R.E. remix of Taylor Swift’s wondrously catchy “Shake It Off”. The LA duo transformed everyone’s latest guilty pleasure into a track that keeps many of the best elements of the original but in an entirely new way.

Two@2: Go Get Blessed

Little change of pace today for Two@2 by featuring remixes of some of the biggest names in rap and hiphop:

The Nightizm remix of Schoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar’s “Blessed” is a deep and intensely emotional track, retaining much of the feeling of the original track. It’s beautiful, give it a listen.

WoodysProduce continues his Summer Citrus remix collection (where he remixes a new song every week) with this gem of “Go” by Common featuring Kanye West and John Mayer. A bit atmospheric, I think it jives well with the vocals.

Two@2: Living on the Road

Arty’s remix of OneRepublic’s “I Lived” is pretty beautiful. Ryan Tedder just has one of those made for electronic music voices. I’m a fan.

The Addal remix of “On the Road” by Y.V.E. 48 is a treasure. Deep, tropical, blah blah, what’s important that this is the perfect end of summer song (dat guitar strum intro doe). Great vibes and will make you look forward to next summer already.

Two@2: Stones, Trees, Birds, Fire

First up is Kav Verhouzer’s “Rollende Steen”, which samples The Temptations 1972 song “Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone”. I’m always a sucker for modern reinterpretations of songs from the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s and this one just has some nice piano work in play too.

I’ve featured Sam Feldt on here before, but I really enjoy his work. Here’s his trop-house remix of I Am Oak’s “On Trees and Birds and Fire”. The sax is great and the vocals are delicate with a kind of pleasing ’80s quality about them.

Two@2: Jammin’ Dreams

Little more chill today, enjoy:

I’m enjoying this Kungs remix of Bob Marley’s “Jammin'”. Always pretty challenging to take a well-known song and transform it tastefully, but I think he did it well. And he’s 17 years-old and just started making music in November 2013. Check out his other work too, very top quality.

It’s a year old, but still excellent: The DIMMI Club Edit of Milky Chance’s “Stolen Dream”.

Two@2: 1999 Females

Two great female-led 1999 hits for you today, remixed to modern tastes:

Check out the Loveless remix of Christina Aguilera’s “Genie in a Bottle”. The Norwegian duo turned the 90’s classic into a deep dance monster, with great piano chords and a pitched down vocal.

Brazzabelle takes the Destiny’s Child classic “Say My Name” to new heights with this great festival remix. Love the heavy bassline too.

Two@2: Tight Sweaters

Eau Claire has an uplifting Stevie Wonder “Uptight” remix for you all and it’s a great nu disco track to get you in a good mood before the weekend.

Vijay and Sofia’s remix of The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather” is a lovely track to start making a fall playlist. Really like the vocals on this one.

Two@2: Born Hungry

Niklas Ibach delivers a remix of Dotan’s “Hungry”. Great melody and super chill, I love it.

This Glastrophobie remix of “Rolling Down the Hill” by Born Cages just makes me happy. The guitar and twangy voice plus backing vocals makes this a pretty excellent listen.

Two@2: Fun and Cheap

Amtrac’s remix of the supremely catchy “Cheap Sunglasses” by RAC and featuring Matthew Koma’s signature vocals is a delight. It’s upbeat and bright, just what you need to get over that Hump Day.

Loving this Kasum remix of Paramore’s “Ain’t It Fun”. Hayley Williams’ vocals really shine in this indie trap-ish track.
